This Privacy Policy explains how Seatly ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you ("you", "Library Owner") use our website and application at seatly.in ("Service"). This policy is drafted in accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and applies to users located in India.
Seatly is operated as a sole proprietorship business registered in India under GSTIN 09CSZPP7741J1ZL. For the purposes of this policy and applicable data protection law, Seatly is the "Data Fiduciary" for account-level information of Library Owners, and acts as a "Data Processor" on behalf of Library Owners for the student data they enter (explained further in Section 5).

We do not use your data or your students' data to serve third-party advertising, and we do not sell personal information to data brokers or marketers.
We process your account information on the basis of: (a) your consent given at the time of registration and acceptance of these terms, (b) performance of the contract between you and Seatly (i.e. providing the subscription service you signed up for), and (c) compliance with legal obligations such as tax and accounting record-keeping under Indian law.
As a Library Owner, you may enter information about your students into Seatly, including name, parent's/guardian's name, date of birth, gender, Aadhar number, mobile number, address, photo, qualification, and fee records.
Seatly acts solely as a Data Processor for this student information — we store and process it on infrastructure we control, strictly to enable the features you use (seat allocation, fee tracking, PDF form generation), and only on your instructions as the Library Owner. We do not independently use, sell, or share student data for any purpose outside of providing the Service to you.
Aadhar numbers, where entered, are treated as sensitive personal data and are stored using the same access-controlled, encrypted infrastructure as other account data. We strongly recommend you collect only the minimum information necessary and obtain explicit consent before recording any Aadhar number.
We do not sell your information or your students' information to anyone. We only share information with the following categories of recipients, and only as necessary:
All payments are processed through Razorpay, a PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway. Seatly does not collect, see, or store your full card number, UPI ID, CVV, or bank account details — these are entered directly into Razorpay's secure interface and governed by Razorpay's own privacy and security policies. We only receive confirmation of payment status and a transaction reference for our billing records, which we retain for accounting and GST compliance purposes.
We implement reasonable security practices in line with the IT (Reasonable Security Practices) Rules, 2011, including: encrypted/hashed password storage, parameterised database queries to prevent injection attacks, CSRF protection on forms, and session timeout controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to result in harm to you or your students, we will notify affected Library Owners without undue delay via email and/or the dashboard, describing the nature of the breach, the data affected, and the steps being taken to address it, in accordance with applicable Indian law.
We retain your account and student data for as long as your account remains active. Upon account closure, we may retain certain records — such as billing and transaction history — for the period required under Indian tax, GST, and accounting laws (generally up to 8 years), after which the data is securely deleted or anonymised. You may request earlier deletion of non-statutory data by contacting us.
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion of your account data (subject to legal retention requirements); and withdraw consent for processing, where consent is the basis of processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in Section 17.
As the Data Fiduciary for your students' information, you are responsible for honouring any access, correction, or deletion requests raised by students or their guardians directly with you.
Seatly uses only essential, first-party session cookies required to keep you securely logged in and to maintain CSRF protection on forms. We do not use third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies. Because these cookies are strictly necessary for the Service to function, we do not display a cookie consent banner; disabling cookies in your browser will prevent you from logging in.
Seatly itself is intended for use by adult Library Owners and is not directed at children. Student records entered into the Service may belong to minors; this data is entered and controlled entirely by the Library Owner acting as Data Fiduciary, not collected directly by Seatly from children. Library Owners must ensure parental/guardian consent is obtained where required by law before entering a minor's personal data.
Your data is stored on servers located in, or operated to be accessible from, India. We do not knowingly transfer personal data outside India except where our hosting or payment infrastructure providers process data as part of their standard global service delivery, in which case such providers are contractually bound to maintain equivalent data protection standards.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in law or our practices. Material changes will be notified via the dashboard or email at least 7 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
